A New Jersey family set up a lemonade stand in their Ridgewood neighborhood to raise money for the victims of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Mike Lawson says the issue is personal to him because he grew up just five minutes from that school. So on President’s Day, he got to work helping two of his kids and two of their friends sell lemonade for a good cause.

The whole thing was all the kids’ idea and they were able to raise $363.25! Parents in the neighborhood say it’s important for the kids to get involved while learning about kindness and gun safety, too.

“I think it's a good thing for them to be doing, for us to see them doing,” says parent Megan Alongi. “It's a big deal right now in our country to help each other, be kind to each other."
