The students at Mt. Zion Elementary School on Johns Island, South Carolina were treated to new bicycles thanks to the nonprofit Going Places. They donated 300 bikes to the boys and girls at the Title 1 school, where some of them didn’t have a bike at home until now.

Former teacher Katie Bloomquist founded Going Places after seeing the lives a lot of students at Title 1 schools lead. So she knows how much of an impact being given this one bike will have on some kids.

Pre-K student Michael Meyers had never even ridden a bicycle before, so he learned at school that day. And after a few tries, he had the hang of it. “It’s awesome,” the five-year-old says. “I love it!”
