Almost a year ago Hurricane Irma slammed the Virgin Islands, destroying Patricia and Frank Raffa’s home. After the storm, the couple relocated to North Carolina to live with their daughter and now it seems like that was a good decision because they just hit the lottery there.
The Raffas won $325,000 last week after buying a $1 ticket. And after taxes, they took home $229,121.
“This is a miracle,” Patricia tells lottery officials. “This is going to let us get a new home and pick up the pieces.”
