GOOD NEWS: Over $108K Raised For McDonald’s Worker After Wife’s Death

An online fundraiser for an 85-year-old man whose wife recently died, leaving him to care for his two adult special needs grandsons alone, has raised more than $108,000 so far. Wendall Gill has worked at the same McDonald’s in Lexington, Kentucky, for the last 40 years, cleaning the restrooms and taking out the trash. And a few months ago, he and his wife of 68 years, Della, stopped in there for lunch, where she had an aneurysm and died in the restroom.

Now Wendall is trying to survive without the love of his life, while caring for his two adult grandsons with special needs, and still having to come to work every day to clean the same restroom where his wife passed away. Wendall’s friend, Todd Oldfield, knows how hard that must be for the widower, so he set up a GoFundMe page to help him out and it’s raised quite a bit so far.

In less than a month, more than $108,000 has been donated to Wendall’s crowdfunding campaign. The money will go toward paying off his vehicles and other debts and hopefully, it’ll be enough for him to finally retire.
