Bernie Sanders Mitten Maker Is Auctioning Some- The woman who designed the mittens worn by Senator Bernie Sanders on Inauguration Day has three pairs up for auction.
The gloves, designed byJen Ellis, are all different styles and supporting different charities. One pair looks very similar to the ones Sanders wears and will benefit Outright Vermont, an LGBTQ-plus youth non-profit. The other two pairs are being auctioned off on eBay with one of the gloves' proceeds going towards Passion 4 Paws Vermont, a local dog rescue, and the other pair supports the college fund of Ellis' daughter. The bidding for the mittens ends Friday.
Ellis, an elementary school teacher, has been flooded with requests for mittens since the hand wear was noticed. Though she said she isn’t taking orders, these three pairs will help great causes.
