An Alabama cop risks his life to save a three-year-old boy from a burning apartment building. On Sunday morning, Rogersville Police Officer Tyler Dison was finishing up his overnight shift when he heard a call on the radio: “Apartments on fire with possible entrapment of a child.” Dison, a former firefighter, said to himself, "I gotta save this child at all costs," and rushed to the scene.
When he pulled up to the Rogersville Park Apartments, flames and heavy smoke were rolling out of one apartment’s windows and a woman was standing outside the building frantically screaming “My baby’s inside!” With no concern for his own safety, Dison ran into the burning building and forced his way into the apartment to rescue the toddler.
A couple of minutes later, Dison came out of the building with the baby in his arms. The child, who was breathing shallow, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he made a full recovery and was later released to his family. Dison sustained some minor injuries and his uniform was singed from the fire, but he was only worried about the baby and was relieved to hear that the baby is doing okay. The hero says the incident is exactly what he signed up for: to save lives.
