German Shephard is saved from streets

A German shepherd named Nikki, who was spotted wandering the streets of Detroit with a stuffed toy after her owner passed away, is safe and preparing for a new home thanks to several animal rescue groups and some compassionate animal lovers.

When Nikki's story was shared online, people from multiple organizations, including It's PAWSible Dog Training CenterSouth Lyon Murphy Lost Animal RecoverySugar Mutts Dog Grooming, and Almost Home Animal Rescue, joined efforts to rescue her. The folks at Almost Home say Nikki’s story reminds them of the movie "Annie," where the lovable orphan kept a locket to remind her of her parents.

Katrina Weaver, owner of It's PAWSible, noted how everyone worked together as a team to help Nikki. A neighbor who had been feeding the dog is now collaborating with rescuers to find her a home. South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery shared a heartfelt message thanking the many individuals and groups who contributed to Nikki's rescue, including those who fed, groomed, and donated for her care. “All of us can do what we do but without you guys, we are nothing,” the post reads, “United, we stand and divided we fall.”
