Hurricanes can bring about devastation, but they can also bring out the best in people, and that was what was on display at an Orlando Lowe's this week.
As Hurricane Irma heads towards Florida, residents are gearing up for the storm but keep facing empty shelves. One item really in demand are generators, and after waiting days to get her hands on one, Pam Brekke drove 30 miles to buy one at the Orlando hardware store after they got a surprise shipment of them.
However, Lowe's sold out just when Brekke was next in line for one. Fearful because her ailing father needs power for the oxygen he's on, she broke down in tears.
That's when Ramon Santiago stepped in. Santiago, who doesn't speak much English, gave her the generator he was about to purchase.
Brekke was overwhelmed by Ramon's kindness and hugged him tightly. She told onlookers, "That gentleman was a great gentleman right there. God will bless that man... He's an angel from God is what he is."
