GOOD NEWS: Basketball Star Misses Free Throw To Honor Late Record-Holder

NCAA basketball 63

Iowa college basketball player Jordan Bohannon decided to miss a free throw instead of take a title away from a beloved record-holder who passed away years before. The Hawkeye’s sophomore point guard was set to beat the record set by Iowa legend Chris Street, who died tragically in a car crash in 1993.

Bohannon missed the shot on purpose so that his name would go next to - and not in place of - Street’s in the Hawkeye basketball record book. Both players are now tied for making 34 consecutive free throws.

And his heartfelt decision didn’t keep his team from winning, they beat Northwestern 77-70. After the game, Bohannon addressed his actions with a simple tweet, writing “Life is much bigger than basketball.”
