It was an amazing week for a group of 31 oil refinery workers in Canada who pooled their money to buy lottery tickets. They struck gold when they won the $60-million prize.
Each of the workers from the town of Come By Chance in Newfoundland will take home around $1.9-million. They say they plan to retire, pay off mortgages, and invest in their children and grandchildren’s educations. Some retired right away, but others are coming back to finish a project at the refinery.
But it seems some of the winners couldn’t believe the good news at first. "I made 28 other phone calls to tell the group members individually that we had the winning ticket," Sherry Moore Hickey says in a statement through Atlantic Lottery Corporation Inc. "They had some choice words for me as they thought I was joking."
