When drivers on the 105 Freeway in Hawthorne, California were stuck in gridlock traffic after a fatal tanker truck crash, no one was happy about it. Commuters were on their way to work and others were headed to the Los Angeles Airport, but no one was moving. Things started looking up when a food truck that was also stuck opened its doors right there on the freeway lanes.
So people were getting breakfast as they waited thanks to AC Catering. And even better? An employee of the company says they were selling food at half price. If they couldn’t get anywhere, at least they could get breakfast.
“We saw other people walking down with sandwiches and we were like, ‘Where are we going? Let’s go get it,’” stranded driver Michael Ulrichsays of the scene. “We just walked up there and there’s a lot of great people and we’re all hanging out and talking and trying to get through it.”
