A suggestion from a seven-year-old girl has led to a Long Island, New York town changing its name for Halloween. Huntington will go by “Hauntington” for one day, thanks to second grader Angelica Dee Cunningham. She came up with the idea and her parents encouraged her to write to town officials with her request.
Angelica sent them a handwritten note explaining that the name would be fun to say, but didn’t expect them to take her seriously. But Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci loved the idea and the town council unanimously approved the one-day switch. They like it so much, he says they plan to use her holiday moniker in years to come.
