Rich and powerful people in the world are pledging to help fund the reconstruction of Notre Dame after a fire tore through the Paris cathedral this month, but they’re not the only ones who want to help. A nine-year-old British girl has donated her change, about $3.77 in coins, to the nearly $947-million that has come in to help rebuild.
"Dear people of France and Paris. My name is Caitlyn, and I am 9 years old, I live in England,"Caitlyn Handleywrites in a letter to one of the organizations collection donations for the rebuilding. “I heard about the Notre Dame on the radio and wanted to help. I know it’s not much, but every bit helps. Hopefully, it won’t take too long to rebuild.”
Caitlyn’s father, Simon, says she was very upset when she learned how old the cathedral was, so she decided to give what she could to help. And while there are thousands of checks coming in to help, this may be the most heartfelt donation.
