A Nebraska girl who has had 14 heart attacks in her short 15 years is getting a new lease on life. Mallory Mueller has had a heart transplant and her new one will help her get back to her routine as a member of her high school’s dance team and color guard.
The teen has actually been through this procedure before, having her first heart transplant when she was just 22-months-old. Mallory’s health issues returned this year, but at first doctors thought she was having seizures. They soon determined they were what’s called “widowmaker” heart attacks and got her on the donor list.
Now Mallory is returning to high school as a sophomore and has remained positive during her medical issues. Her perspective? “Always remember that there’s this light that’s always gonna come to you,” she says.
