TMSG: Coronavirus Doesn't Stop Young Boys Star-Wars Themed Adoption

European Premiere of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker"

In Great Falls, Montana the coronavirus thankfully didn't impede on a special day for a young boy.

12-year-old Alex was finally being adopted after being in multiple foster homes by Pamela and Philip Reyes. They had been together a year and since Alex is a huge Star Wars fan, this is the theme he chose on. Pamela told Great Falls Tribune, "We allow each of our kids to pick themes. (Alex is) a huge 'Star Wars' fan, and he decided to be Darth Vader."

To start the adoption process, two Darth Vaders strode up the aisle of the Cascade County District courthouse on Friday to the opening drumbeats of the Imperial March. When they approached, twin lightsabers stood on the desk, ready for battle. And on a television screen nearby "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" played. Alex and Judge Greg Pinski each took up their weapons and had a brief battle before getting down to the business of Alex's adoption.

As Pinski made his final pronouncement he said, "By the power vested in me by the Force, by the Empire, I'm going to approve your adoption, alright?" Then, while everyone signed the paperwork, the "Star Wars" theme song rang out.

When Pinski was originally told about the plan, he was just as excited. His family took a Disney trip in January and he brought home all of the accessories to deck the courtroom and dress up as Darth Vader. He said to Great Falls Tribune, "Everybody needs something positive in their life right now, and I can't think of anything more positive than to have this family come together."
