An intensive care nurse in Australia went above and beyond to save a patient with COVID.SarahKelly has Down syndrome and was admitted to the hospital struggling to breathe, but she refused to have oxygen tubes put in. Luckily, her nurse,Steven Moylan, had an idea involving her favorite musical group.
Moylan has a brother with an intellectual disability and had noticed Sarah watching The Wiggles on her iPad. So he personally tracked down the popular children’s group and asked for their help. They agreed and he got them to put the oxygen tubes on and after showing the video to Sarah, she happily did the same.
Thanks to the nurse and The Wiggles, the rapidly deteriorating patient got the care she needed. Moylan says, “That’s what we needed for her to stay alive.”
