A San Francisco eatery made sure Mother’s Day was extra special for a group of moms who are experiencing homelessness. Le Colonial Restaurant hosted a Mother’s Day lunch in honor of these women and their families, where they had a delicious meal, handmade cards from their kids and got some swag, too.
Dozens of moms who are residents of Compass Family Services transitional housing and shelter program and are working to get back on their feet were treated to the holiday banquet. Marie Tiaha, one of the guests of honor, says she never knew Mother’s Day could be so amazing after her challenging year of being homeless. “Sometimes you don’t have the opportunity or access to a beautiful place to eat,” she says. “I feel very blessed.”
Le Colonial’s executive chef Geoffery Deetz was all in to help make these moms feel seen and pampered. “I think as a community we need to pitch in in a positive way,” he explains.
