Corn Kid and Green Giant meet

A seven-year-old boy from Brooklyn known as “The Corn Kid” on TikTok helps donate a truck full of food to a food rescue ahead of Thanksgiving. Brooklyn second-grader Tariq shot to TikTok stardom when a video of him talking about his love of corn went viral. Well, earlier this week, The Corn Kid met up with the Jolly Green Giant to deliver 50-thousand cans of corn along with a truckload of dried goods and 13-thousand turkeys to help feed people in need in the New York City area.

The food was provided by Green Giant and is going to City Harvest’s brand new Cohen Community Food Rescue Center in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park. There it will be boxed up by volunteers and distributed to people in need across the five boroughs.

City Harvest is the world’s first and largest food rescue with a mission to feed New Yorkers in need. The nonprofit works with local restaurants and markets to rescue food that would otherwise be thrown away. Every day, City Harvest hands out around 200-thousand pounds of food and since 1982, they’ve rescued and redistributed over a billion pounds of food, feeding millions of the most vulnerable New Yorkers.
