OU STUDENT NEWSPAPERS OUTSCOOPS THE REST OF THE MEDIA

It’s always great to see the little guy get the big scoop. In Oklahoma, a student newspaper ended up getting a scoop that reportedly resulted in the Sooners to close off all media access for the week. The way the story goes is reporters Mason Young and Austin Cutright, for the “Oklahoma Daily” paper, watched the Sooner office practice through binoculars atop a “public building.” Through that, he saw freshman Caleb Williams out-snap Spencer Rattler 15-7. Later, that same reporter said he saw Williams “primarily scrimmaging” with the starting receivers, while Rattler was working with the backups. Until the Daily ran that story, every sports news organization was trying to figure out who would start for the Sooners this Saturday, and all of them appeared to have been out-scooped by a student paper.
