GOOD NEWS: Teen’s Viral Tweet Keeps Family Bakery From Closing

After Hurricane Harvey, business really slowed down at LaCasa Bakery and Cafe in the Houston area. Owner Trinidad Garza was thinking about selling and he even had an offer, but when his daughter found out, she took to Twitter to stir up some customers. And her plan worked.

Jackie says she begged her dad not to sell and to let her finish college and then make her part owner of the bakery. And to convince him to stay open, the 18-year-old posted a video on Twitter of her dad making pan dulce. She explained that her dad bakes everything himself and that he’s thinking of closing, so she asked for retweets to help bring in potential customers.

Her tweet has gone viral and has over 48,000 likes and almost 60,000 retweets and 1.1 million views! And business has been booming since she spread the word on social media, they even almost ran out of concha - a sweet yeast roll - because of the demand.
