GOOD NEWS: 2017 Was The Safest Year In History To Fly

Say what you will about 2017, but when it comes to flying it was a very good year. Airlines had zero accident deaths in commercial passenger planes last year, which makes it the safest year in history for passengers worldwide.

According to Dutch aviation consulting firm To70 and the Aviation Safety Network, there were no commercial passenger jet fatalities in 2017 and there were only two fatal accidents involving small turbo prop planes.

To70 lead researcher Adrian Young says, "2017 was the safest year for aviation ever," adding that the chances of a plane being involved in a fatal accident is now one in 16 million.
