GOOD NEWS: Hundreds Welcome Eight-Year-Old Back To School After 15-Month Ca

After a 15-month battle with cancer kept her from being able to go to school, eight-year-old Bridget Kelley has finally returned to Merrymount Elementary. And on her first day back, hundreds of folks in her Quincy, Massachusetts community came out to cheer her on.

Teachers, police officers, classmates, and their families stood outside and held signs welcoming and encouraging the third-grader on her return to school after her cancer treatments. Bridget was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia in September 2016 and spent 88 days in the hospital getting chemo and having surgeries.

She couldn’t be in school, attend birthday parties, or go to dance or soccer practice because she had to live in isolation during her treatment, so Bridget was excited to get to be with her friends
