GOOD NEWS: Students In Puerto Rico Cheer When School’s Power Comes Back On

Students at Academia Bautista de Puerto Nuevo in San Juan, Puerto Rico have been working despite the fact they haven’t had power since Hurricane Maria devastated the island. But this week, the lights came back on and a video taken inside the school shows the kids cheering with excitement when it does after 112 long days.

This school and much of the island have been without power since September and as of late December, there were still more than 500,000 who didn’t have it yet. Crews are hard at work on the ongoing restoration and the Army Corps of Engineers believes most Puerto Ricans will have power again by March.
