We previously told you about the Georgia family of 10 who lost everything in an apartment fire earlier this month. The Ragland family made headlines when three-year-old Destiny, the last child of the eight kids to get out, was thrown by her dad from the third-floor balcony when the flames got too close for her to climb down.
Thankfully, Captain Scott Stroup was working on the ground below and caught the toddler. He’s now being recognized for his heroism that night.
“It's very humbling to be a part of this. I can't say enough just how thankful I am to work for DeKalb County Fire Department,” Stroup explains. “Actually getting to see that little girl smile and play with her siblings, wow. That’s all I needed right there.”
