Ella Johannessen was on the phone talking to her mom about how “stressed and upset” she was about her finances while traveling by train in the UK recently. The recent university grad then took a nap and when she woke up, she found $140 in cash inside of a napkin on her lap.
The 23-year-old wrote a Facebook post to thank the kind stranger who must have overheard her conversation and decided to lend a helping hand. Ella says this gift will keep her from overdrawing her bank account and she’s “incredibly thankful” for it. She even plans to pay it forward by volunteering for a charity.
"After a terrible 18 months where I lost my father and both of his parents it showed me that there is kindness and good people in the world,” Ella writes. "I would like to tell the person that they are a fantastic human being and it has really lifted my spirits and massively helped me out."
