GOOD NEWS: Strangers Rally To Help Mom With Kid Having Airport Meltdown

Traveling with a toddler can be a real challenge, but flying long distances with a tot is next level. And when one mom found herself flying alone with her toddler, while pregnant, her kid’s meltdown caused her to unravel, too. But a kind group of strangers came together to support her and her child and help them through that tough moment.

Beth Dunnington shares in a Facebook post that while she was in the Los Angeles airport she saw an exasperated parent waiting to board a flight while her kid ran between seats, kicking and screaming, lying on the ground, having a total meltdown, pretty much every parent’s worst nightmare. The mom couldn’t get on the plane or contain her kid, so she’d had it and sat down next to him and started crying.

Dunnington went over to her to help and at the same time, five or six other women did too. None of them knew each other, they just knew they could help and formed an “emergency mom tribe” around her and her kid. One woman sang “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” another peeled an orange for the kid, one gave the toddler a toy from her bag, and someone gave the mom a bottle of water. They all provided a distraction and a welcome break.

"We were strangers, gathering to solve something,” Dunnington writes. “It occurred to me that a circle of women, with a mission, can save the world.”
