Abby Leathers’ rescue dog Bruce wouldn’t stop begging to be let outside her Georgia home and when she finally let him out, he rushed out and knew exactly where he was headed. She followed her dog to a nearby pond, where he went all the way to the water’s edge.
Abby was shocked to see an elderly woman in the water. The woman was standing up in knee-deep water and she didn’t speak English, so Abby couldn’t communicate with her. She finally coaxed the woman out of the water and called 911 and it turns out, the woman’s family had already reported her missing.
“I would never have known she was out there. She could have frozen. She could have drowned,” Abby says. “Thanks to Bruce, she got to go home.”
