It's a rare thing to hear someone at the Vatican yell, "Snowball Fight!!!!!"   ~Karla

Rome Is Getting A Rare Snowstorm -Rome is getting a rare winter treat.

Italy faced its coldest February with record-breaking low temperatures and yesterday, Romans woke up to snowfall for the first time in nearly three decades. From the Colosseum, to the Trevi fountain and the Fori Imperiali there is a fresh dusting of snow. Italians at Saint Peter's Square at the Vatican were throwing snowballs while others built snowmen at the nations most historic parks and plazas.

The cold blast is being called the "Beast from the East" by locals and is expected to last through the week. Meteorologists believe the intense winter weather came in from Siberia and will reach as far south as Spain. Many schools and businesses closed for the day as the area came to a standstill.Source: New York Times
