GOOD NEWS: NFL Players Save Elderly Hiker’s Life

Eli Smoker was hiking with his grandfather, Dan, when they stopped to take a selfie to remember their climb to Castle Rock in Colorado. But on the way back down, Dan slipped and fell more than 20 feet. Luckily, a pair of NFL players were nearby to lend a hand.

Christian McCaffrey, a running back for the Carolina Panthers and his brother Max McCaffrey, who plays for the San Francisco 49ers helped keep Eli calm and Dan alive while they called 911. The brothers even visited the family later at the hospital where Dan is being treated for his injuries.

Eli says, “I can’t thank them enough, honestly.” Christian has denied doing anything courageous, but he did tweet about the family, posting, “I know where Eli gets his strength.”
