GOOD NEWS: Adidas Sold A Million Shoes Made Of Ocean Plastic In 2017

Parley for the Oceans partnered with Adidas in 2016 to start making shoes using recycled plastics recovered from the ocean. And during a recent interview, Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted shared that the company “sold one million shoes made out of ocean plastic” last year.

Since it’s estimated that each shoe reuses 11 plastic bottles, so that’s means a lot less bottles are clogging up our oceans thanks to these shoes. According to its website,

Adidas currently offers three types of Ultraboost shoes, made using plastic "intercepted from beaches and coastal communities before it reaches the ocean.”
