Apple is ready for more inclusive emoji. The tech giant has requested that Unicode Consortium - they’re the ones responsible for emojis - design characters that accurately represent people with disabilities.

"Apple is requesting the addition of emojis to better represent individuals with disabilities," the company wrote in its proposal. "Diversifying the options available helps fill a significant gap and provides a more inclusive experience for all."

The company created 13 new emojis representing those with disabilities after working with community organizations like the American Council of the Blind and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. The proposed new emojis include: person in wheelchair, prosthetic limbs, service animals, and hearing aids.
