GOOD NEWS: Tot With Down Syndrome Beats Cancer Twice Before Turning Two

Since she was born, Grace Rosian has been on a health roller coaster. The little girl came into the world via emergency C-section after her mom, Valerie, went into cardiac arrest and nearly died during delivery. Doctors informed the family their newborn had Down syndrome and a form of leukemia that’s typical in kids with Downs.

The infant endured chemo at just two days old when she only weighed a little over four pounds, but she’s a little fighter. After treatment, Grace was declared cancer-free at two-months-old. Then she developed a form of leukemia as a result of the initial cancer and has spent her 16 months of life in and out of the hospital. Finally, her cancer went into remission and a few weeks ago she was able to go home with her family.

Now Valerie says her daughter is a happy, playful little girl. She says, “It feels good to be a regular mom.”
