A Charlotte TV station’s book drive got a big donation from a local man when he gave 26,000 books to the cause. Crews Walden, President of C.D. Stampley Enterprises, which publishes Bibles as well as children’s books, donated a whole warehouse of books to TV64’s Books for Kids Collection Drive.
It turns out the books had been sitting in a warehouse for years and Walden needed to clear them out, so his wife came up with the idea of giving them to the book drive. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library will help distribute the collected books to kids in the community.
“It’s a win-win,” said Walden. “I’m glad they are being put to good use.”
