GOOD NEWS: Lyft Starts Free Rides For Cancer Patients In LA

Lyft has announced plans that’ll make it easier for those battling cancer to get to and from treatment in Los Angeles: they can catch a ride with Lyft for free. The ride-hailing app is working with the American Cancer Society to run the program, which hopes to help with transportation, which is one of the biggest roadblocks to those with cancer getting quality health care.

Cancer patients who need a ride can call 800-227-2345 to set it up with the American Cancer Society. The group will use Lyft Concierge to book a ride and users of the service are asked to call a few days before their appointment to coordinate a ride.

Free rides are only provided to and from cancer-related medical appointments. This Road to Recovery program was tested in Las Vegas and Miami last year and will now be available in 10 cities, including Atlanta, Denver, Houston, and Philadelphia.

For more information or to volunteer to give cancer patients rides, visit the Road to Recovery website.
