GOOD NEWS: Teens Help Foster Kids Headed Back To School

As they get ready to begin their junior year at Christ Episcopal School in Covington, Louisiana, Kate Tournillon and Lucy Vanderbrook have been busy. The teens have spent the summer collecting backpacks and school supplies to stuff them with to give to foster teens. The backpacks will also include personal items like soap, towels, socks and even candy.

The call their effort “Kindness for Everybody” and so far the teens have gotten 28 backpacks that will go to other teens in the foster care system who need them most. Along with the school supplies and personal hygiene items, each backpack also contains a personal note from Lucy and Kate. They want to make sure anyone who gets one knows there’s a little love inside.

“It’s really important to know that even if you don’t know the person personally, there’s someone who cares about you,” Lucy says.
