For decades Misty Hoffman searched for her father. Her mother was incarcerated when she was young and she never knew her dad, but she kept looking. Finally, a friend suggested she do a DNA kit and it gave her the name she’d wondered about for more than 30 years - her dad is Jeff Harris.
Hoffman drove from Saginaw, Michigan to Chicago to meet the man she’d wanted to know since she was a little girl. Not only did she get to meet her dad, Harris has three sons she met, along with uncles and a grandmother. It was a long time coming, but it was worth it. Hoffman says, “I felt like my prayers had been answered.”
Harris is also thrilled to have his daughter in his life now. He just came to Saginaw and finally met his grandchildren, Hoffman’s two kids, Drew and Natalie. The new grandpa says, “I just love them to death, it’s a dream come true.”
