GOOD NEWS: Chef José Andrés Feeds Folks Hit By Hurricane Florence

The Red Cross and the National Guard are always there to lend a hand when disaster strikes and now José Andrés is, too. The famous chef and his nonprofit World Central Kitchen are now feeding thousands in the Carolinas who were hit hard by Hurricane Florence.

Andrés and his World Central Kitchen team arrived in North Carolina days before the storm made landfall last week, opening kitchens in Raleigh and Wilmington. They’ve made over 60,000 meals since the hurricane struck and were delivering another 80,000 Monday. Floodwaters definitely make their work more of a challenge, but the humanitarian chef says they’ll keep delivering the food.

"We are always happy when we have military structure command. Thanks to them we have been able to deliver meals to more than five counties," Andrés explains. "The governor helped us connect with the officials, and the officials are helping us connect to the people in need."
