GOOD NEWS: Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen Donates $30M To Seattle Charity

Seattle charities are getting a helping hand from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. The “Seattle Times” reports Allen is donating $30-million to help house 94 homeless and low-income families in south Seattle.

The billionaire has been working with the Mount Baker Family Housing project and this gift to the eight-story complex will cover a big chunk of the $46-million cost. Half of the units will be reserved for homeless families and the other half will be for low-income families of three, with the bottom floor serving as a resource center for families who need help with day care or after-school programs.

Allen is also helping to fund Blokable, a seattle startup company hoping to “revolutionize affordable housing.”
