After having lunch with her sister, Elaine Schaffstall was on her way to go shopping when her heart suddenly stopped. The Lincoln, Nebraska woman was still behind the wheel of her car and on the road when it happened and she narrowly missed a light pole before hitting a tree and ending up in a law firm’s parking lot.
Schaffstall doesn’t remember a thing and says “I left this world,” but thankfully, someone with life-saving skills was close and brought her back. Respiratory therapist Jill Ysac was nearby and got to work on her, performing 10 minutes of CPR to revive the stranger.
Schaffstall had no idea who saved her life that day, but she wanted to thank them. So her niece wrote a Facebook post to try to track the person down and after 100 shares, the message reached Ysac. The woman finally had the chance to talk and Schaffstall thanked the good samaritan and told her she thinks of her as an angel.
