GOOD NEWS: Lyft Donates Rides To Help Domestic Violence Victims

Sometimes the reason a victim of domestic violence doesn’t leave an abusive situation is a lack of transportation, so Lyft wants to help. The ride-sharing service has donated $20,000 in credits to help get victims of domestic violence to and from shelters in Arizona.

Lyft’s donation to the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence was recently announced as part of a Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The company also collected basic items shelters requested, including personal hygiene products, diapers, socks and underwear, from Lyft employees and drivers and donated those during the event.

And Lyft is now offering customers discounts to help raise money for the cause too. New riders who use the code ENDVIOLENCE can save $5 on four rides, and existing riders can use ENDVIOLENCE18 to save 20% off two rides in October. Each time the codes are used, Lyft will donate $10 to the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence.
