After a man burned several LGBTQ children’s library books during a gay pride festival, donations have been pouring in to replace the books. Religious activist Paul Dorr checked out the four books from the Orange City Public Library in Iowa and read aloud from them before tossing them into a barrel fire and calling them “filthy,” “disgusting,” and “shameful.”
But since then, the library has received donation of at least 100 books from people across the country, most being copies of the books Dorr destroyed. The library has been fortunate to receive several hundred dollars in donations as well.
Iowa native Dylan Boyle says he’s against censorship like Dorr’s so he set up a GoFundMe page to buy replacement copies of the books. So far, it’s raised more than $1,800.
