For the last year and a half, Emily Sadler has been fighting cancer. The 15-year-old was diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma in March 2017 and has since endured several surgeries and radiation treatments. So when Emily’s mom Amy found out from doctors that she was cancer-free, she wanted to share the news in a big announcement.
Amy enlisted help from her daughter’s classmates at school to tell her the good news. The teens made banners and posters and they surprised Emily at an assembly where they cheered and told her she’s finally cancer-free. It was the surprise of her life and moved her to tears.
“I was shook,” Emily says of the announcement. “I really liked it though. I felt great.”
