GOOD NEWS: Puppy Recovering After Surgery To Fix Upside Down Paws

When Milo the puppy was born, his paws were not quite right, but thanks to veterinarians at Oklahoma State University, he’s on the road to recovery. The 10-week-old beagle and coon hound mix was born with his front paws facing up instead of down, so he couldn’t walk. But an animal rescue group got him to Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, where they did surgery on Milo.

Dr. Erik Clary says he’s pleased with the progress the eight-pound puppy is making since his operation on January 9th. The vet says Milo suffered from congenital elbow dislocation and he inserted pins in his elbows to realign the joints and help the pup learn to walk again one day.

Jennie Hays with the nonprofit rescue group Oliver and Friends Farm Sanctuary says the group is caring for Milo post-surgery and that he’s doing great and is a “very happy puppy.”
