GOOD NEWS: Deputy Digs Through Snow To Save Elderly Woman

When snow blanketed the Pioneer, California area, a Sheriff’s deputy in Amador County did whatever it took to rescue an elderly woman stuck in her freezing home. DeputyCasey Wilsontook a call fromJoan Almstrom’sconcerned neighbor, who was worried after not being able to get in touch with her.

The neighbor feared that Almstrom was snowed in without power, heat, or phone service, according to the Sheriff’s office. So Deputy Wilson went to check on her and had to dig out the knee-high snow from her front porch to get her to his cruiser. He got her to the car safely and drove her to a nearby hotel, where he even picked up the tab for her.
