GOOD NEWS: Woman Climbing 58 Colorado Mountains To Help Those In Need

Many aspiring mountaineers want to climb Colorado’s 58 “Fourteeners,” and Brittany Woodrum is well on her way. The term refers to the 58 mountains in the state that all tower over 14-thousand feet and so far, she’s made it to her 39th peak. But the Denver woman isn’t just doing this as a rite of passage, she’s making the climbs to raise awareness and money for a good cause, ShelterBox.

So far, Brittany has raised around $55-thousand for the nonprofit, which offers shelter and help to people in developing countries who have lost everything. ShelterBox provides basics, like a tent, tarps, water jugs, blankets, lighting and cooking equipment, all inside a turquoise box. And every climb that she makes, she’s wearing a ShelterBox on her back.

Her goal is to finish all 58 Fourteeners by the end of the year and her goal is to raise $14-hundred for each one, all while living out of her car! Brittany became a ShelterBox Ambassador when she started working on her Masters degree in Humanitarian Assistance and says, “This is what I want to dedicate my life to.”
