A missing ring-tailed lemur is back at home in the San Francisco Zoo, thanks to help from a young boy.Maki, the 21-year-old animal, is believed to have been stolen from his enclosure during a burglary, because of evidence of forced entry, according to San Francisco police.
Luckily, five-year-oldJames Trinhspotted Maki the next afternoon playing in a church playground just 10 minutes from the zoo. When James’ mom came to pick him up at school, he told her, “Call the zookeeper!” They did and the young animal lover helped get Maki back to the zoo, where he was found to be in good health.
Ring-tailed lemurs have an average life expectancy of 16 years, so Maki is considered a senior lemur. He’s beloved by staff and visitors to the zoo and everyone is grateful for his safe return.
