8 year old boy raising $97K for his favorite waiter

I thought the BEST thing at Waffle House was the waffles....but I was wrong. It turns out, the best thing at Waffle House is the BIG hearts of the workers and customers:) ~Karla

When eight-year-old Kayzen Hunter learned that his friend, Devonte Garner, was living in a motel and walking to work, he wanted to help. Kayzen and his family are regulars at the Arkansas Waffle House where Devonte works. "He always greets us with the biggest smile," Kayzen says and adds that Devonte is “one of the most joyous and positive people you’ve ever met!"

Kayzen recently found out that Devonte had been living in a motel with his wife and two young daughters for the last eight months and that he was living paycheck to paycheck and couldn’t save up for a car. So Kayzen asked his mom if he could start a crowdfund for his friend and she agreed. They started out with a modest goal of raising $500, but Devonte’s story resonated with people and money started pouring in to help him.

Now the crowdfund has raised over $97-thousand and Kayzen’s mom updated the fundraising page to tell supporters that Devonte and his family have already moved out of the motel and into their new two bedroom apartment. They’re also looking for a reliable car. And Devonte is grateful for his young friend and what he’s done for him. “He has a very huge heart,” Devonte says about Kayzen, “And I’m thankful he came into my life.”
