Teen saves her family from a fire

Charlestown, Indiana, 14-year-old Zoey Jasso is being hailed as a hero after saving her family from a house fire. The blaze broke out around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with five people inside the home. The teen woke up to the smell of smoke and saw an orange light, prompting her to alert her family and get everyone to safety.

Zoey first grabbed her sleeping twin sister and then ran to another room where her twin three-year-old cousins and their father were sleeping. She yelled, "I think there is a fire," waking everyone up. Then they all quickly evacuated the house. The entire family, including their dog, were safely outside within a minute, and fire crews arrived about four minutes later.

Although the cause of the fire is unknown, the family believes the home is a total loss, but fortunately, they had renter’s insurance. They’re grateful to Zoey for ensuring their safety and will be staying with relatives while they figure out what to do next.
