Dolly Parton debuted a reimagined version of “Gonna Be You” with Maddie & Tae, Jessie James Decker and Callie Twisselman on Friday (October 11). Later this evening, the women will share “a heartfelt conversation about life, family and our journeys in show business.”
“Well, I can’t tell you how thrilled and honored I am to get to sing with all these talented women on the incredible [Diane Warren]’s song ‘Gonna Be You,’” Parton said as the new version arrived. “I love the song, and I love these gals. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it together! 🩷”
Parton announced the “Gonna Be You” collaboration earlier this week. She shared a sneak peek at that time of a heartfelt conversation the group of women shared together. Parton said “we decided to sit down together for a heartfelt conversation about life, family and our journeys in show business. …We shared laughs, stories and created memories I know everyone will enjoy being a part of. 🩷” That conversation premieres at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Parton initially released a version of “Gonna Be You” with Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, Belinda Carlisle of The Go-Go's and Debbie Harry of Blondie. that version of the song appeared in 80 For Brady, starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field.
